lyrics

(Flashes, footsteps, visions, signals, codes, cloaks, pieces)

Chrous: Lay low, get used to the Labyrinth.
The truth is often less impressive than imagined.
Stay remote. I crave red herring.
Error on error on error, thanks for sharing.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Spoiler alert: expect the unexpected.

1. When the dragons wake and beat their wings I feel it at my day job.
I acknowledge knowledge in the wandering of stray dogs.
Play God and watch the role consume you just like wine and wafers.
Making molehills into mountains just so I can climb ‘em later.
A little birdie told me that a bigger bird is bringing proof
That the insider intelligence he’s singing is the truth.
We can follow maps or we can follow our guts
Or we can follow all these footprints of God-knows-what.
I need to know who really feels they need to know what’s going on
And why they think the answers won’t be ones they end up choking on.
I’m holding on to certain myths, I hope this goes for all of us.
May tomorrow bring elation to cryptozoologists.
Head like a hedge maze, tongue like a question mark
Jaw like a jigsaw puzzle, jumbled, left apart.
Never start a fight with those haven’t learned the lesson
That despite apparent order there’s a madness to the method.
For every trusted compass there’s a dozen hidden magnets
All collaborating just to keep the needle spinning backwards.
Why is the sky blue? Why is water wet?
I assume we would have been notified if it mattered yet.
If the data doesn’t add up don’t lose your faith in addition.
The road to Hell was paved by the wisdom of convention.
The Earth is a sphere but it looks flat from here.
Quantify phenomena, watch all the awe disappear.

(Trails, ashes, disguises, senses)

Chrous: Lay low, get used to the Labyrinth.
The truth is often less impressive than imagined.
Stay remote. I crave red herring.
Error on error on error, thanks for sharing.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Spoiler alert: expect the unexpected.

2. There’s a common misconception that Nowhere has got a middle.
Yeah you lose a little wonder every time you solve a riddle.
It’s all sizzle and no steak. Straight to the bargain bin.
Barkin’ up the wrong tree, crushed by a fallin’ limb.
Neither here nor there and the view is beyond compare.
You cannot really prepare to be caught unaware.
Dare to concede and recede and leave breaking molds to the other bricks.
Information overload trouble: just a couple double clicks.
Double-thick skulls cry for full disclosure.
Out of the corner of my eye I’m peeking over shoulders.
The fog is in the valleys, the alleys are getting darker yet.
Sexy, easy explanations playing hard to get.
Saw a UFO in Utah, heard screaming down in the gorge.
And Baby thought he saw a phantom while we both lived in the dorms.
Short of breath, eyes water, why bother with reduction?
Learning is a lifelong affliction. I function
Best on the fly, by the seat of my pants.
I proceed without plans from there I leave it to chance.
Keep a grain of salt close. Most theories are crackpot.
Go off half-cocked, punching holes in the backdrop.
Bow down to science, or bow before superstition.
Or accept the mystery from more dignified positions.
Enlightenment a bridge that I couldn’t less care to cross.
Conundrum, ambiguity, enigma, paradox.

(Diversions, deals, owls, subterfuge)

Chrous: Lay low, get used to the Labyrinth.
The truth is often less impressive than imagined.
Stay remote. I crave red herring.
Error on error on error, thanks for sharing.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Leave the blanks blank, leave the dots unconnected.
Spoiler alert: expect the unexpected.
